HTC has announced a smartphone designed to connect to the company’s version of metaverse – the Viverse. This Android 12-based phone is called Desire 22 Pro.
But don’t expect it to be a top-tier device. Desire 22 Pro is a solid mid-ranger. It packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, which contains eight Kryo 660 cores clocked at up to 2.2 GHz, an Adreno 619 graphics accelerator and a Snapdragon X51 5G modem. It also contains 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage, expandable via MicroSD card.
The display is a 6.6″ FullHD+ LCD panel (2412×1080 pixels), protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, and supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate. The 32-megapixel selfie camera is located in a punch hole on the upper left corner of the screen. While triple rear camera combines 64 MP wide, 13 MP Ultrawide and 5 MP depth-sensing modules.
There is also a side fingerprint scanner and IP67 splash and dust resistance. Its dimensions are: 166.3×76.9×9.4 mm, and weight is 205.5g. Connectivity-wise it supports 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo, USB Type-C, and NFC.
There is also a 4520 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology (up to 18 W), wireless charging and reverse wireless charging (Qi compatible).
But the main feature of the new smartphone is a set of additional apps: Viverse to enter the metaverse, Vive Avatar to create avatars and Vive Wallet to manage virtual assets.
