Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reveals the effectiveness of Storm Shadow

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, reported on the successful use of Storm Shadow cruise missiles by the Ukrainian military. According to him, these long-range missiles are 100% effective. All the Storm Shadow launches that have been carried out have achieved their targets set by the General Staff with an accuracy of 100%.

“Out of the total number of Storm Shadow launches that have already taken place, all 100 per cent hit the targets identified by the General Staff – 100 per cent,” the defence minister said.

During a meeting with British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace last week, Reznikov introduced him to the two Ukrainian pilots who had used the missiles. He also noted that the pilots presented Wallace with the tape that secures the missile before launch as a symbolic souvenir.

Ukraine received Storm Shadow cruise missiles from the UK on 11 May. These missiles have a long range and are designed to hit stationary targets. They are typically launched from the air, and the Ukrainian Air Force uses frontline Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft to launch them. The Strong Shadow is a relatively new type of air-to-ground cruise missile.

Ben Wallace had previously said that the missiles would help Ukraine repel Russian forces on its territory and that the UK had made the decision because of Russia’s aggressive behaviour and attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
