Google Chrome browser will receive 3 new AI features after the update

With the new release of Google Chrome browser M121, Google announced that it will introduce three new generative AI features at once, thanks to which the browser will become even easier to use. Among the new additions are a tab organizer, an assistant for writing texts, and the ability to customize the design and themes throughout the browser. For the new features to work, you must turn on the “Experimental AI” switch on the settings page, which is located in the drop-down menu with three dots.

The new features in Chrome will be available on Mac and Windows computers over the next few days. The rollout will begin in the US, and the features will be disabled for enterprise and education accounts for now.

The tab organizer will do exactly what you might expect from the name. Built-in artificial intelligence will automatically suggest ways to classify all open tabs in Chrome windows and offer the ability to create groups. This can be useful if you have a lot of repeating tabs open. When you click “Organize Similar Tabs,” AI will group open pages by topic. For example, tabs related to shopping could be grouped and the AI would suggest a title like “Shopping Gear for a Ski Trip”.

Chrome’s new text assistant may also have practical uses. The feature will launch as an experimental tool to help users create text, including Google reviews or social media posts. To enable this feature after launch, you need to select “Help me write” so that the tool completes the sentence or offers options to continue the text.

Customization isn’t that new to most Google tools like Mail or Docs, and now Chrome web browsers allow users to personalize visual effects. The company sees this as an extension of the AI wallpapers it recently developed for Pixel phones. To do this, click the “Customize Chrome” button in the sidebar and let the AI generate a theme for you. You can search for something by description, such as “small beach town” or “Blade Runner 2049 vibe” and see AI-generated theme options.

These new tools will compete with Microsoft’s Bing AI-integrated browser, which introduced AI-powered tab grouping and typing assistant last year. However, Chrome still dominates the US browser market by a wide margin.
