Samsung releases affordable FE series flagship phones (Fan Edition) every year after the launch of the flagship Galaxy S20 (well, almost, the manufacturer decided to skip the S22 FE). And now there are further confirmations that the Korean tech giant is working on the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE.
According to insiders, the Galaxy S24 FE is currently under development and has the project name R12. This follows the naming scheme Samsung used for previous FE phones: the S20 FE was R8, the S21 FE was R9, and the S23 FE was R11. By the way, the S22 FE was also in development and even had the code name R10, but unfortunately, it was never realized.
We previously wrote that the S24 FE could be released this summer, but currently, there are indications that the production of this model may take a little longer, and the tech giant will not have time for the summer presentation. Instead, sources claim that the Galaxy S24 FE should launch sometime in late 2024. This means that the appearance of the device on the global market may take place as early as the beginning of 2025. The launch delay is in line with reports of manufacturing issues Samsung is currently facing.
Early leaks regarding possible specifications suggest that the device will sport a 6.1-inch AMOLED display and will be powered by an Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, depending on the market. It may have 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and will likely be offered with 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a 4500 mAh battery.
As a reminder, Samsung released the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024, and we have reviews of the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra models on our website (the first is at this link, and the second is here). The S24 series smartphones come with Android 14 and a seven-year update promise, which means they should eventually be updated to Android 21. The company is also giving free access to AI features until the end of 2025.
