A new reveal from tipster Revegnus shows that there might be some Samsung midrange devices to launch with MediaTek processors. Over the years, Samsung has stuck to using its in-house Exynos chips on its mid-range level devices, the A and M series. However, rumours making the rounds now claim that Samsung might switch to using MediaTek processors on their budget-level devices.
Revegnus has already revealed that MediaTek chips won’t be coming to Samsung flagship devices. From his post on X, the tipster revealed that the Korean tech giant previously considered using the Dimensity 9000 processor on the flagship S series. However, this plan didn’t pull through as a result of the short supply of this chip in the smartphone market.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 launched in 2021 and could have been in the S22 series if not for supply issues. Now the recent Dimensity 9300 processor is already out of stock as its demand is high among Chinese smartphone manufacturers. For this reason, the chip can’t be used on the Galaxy S24 series which is the latest flagship offering from Samsung.
For future devices like the Galaxy S25 and S26 series, Samsung aims to stick to the Snapdragon processor. However, there is a possibility that MediaTek chips might still find their way to Samsung devices. Instead of aiming to use MediaTek chips on the flagship entries, Samsung might explore its usage on the more affordable Galaxy devices.
Revegnus claims that MediaTek is already offering exclusive prices for Samsung. If Samsung takes up these offers, then we might see some Galaxy A and M devices launch using the MediaTek Dimensity processors. However, if Samsung fails to agree on the offers, we will continue seeing the Exynos chips on the more affordable Samsung Galaxy device entries.
