War in Ukraine: latest successes on cyberfront from Anonymous

From the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion to Ukraine, Anonymous hacker group has spoken in support of Ukraine, and started another front of Ukrainian resistance – the cyberfront. Here are the latest developments and successes on this front from the allegedly associated twitter account Anonymous TV.

Marathon Group

On March 31, Anonymous has hacked and released 62,000 emails from the Marathon Group. This is an investment company, owned by Alexander Vinokurov – Russian oligarch under EU sanctions, who also happened to be a son-in-law for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Hacked dataset has a file size of 51.9 GB.

Mosekspertiza & Capital legal Services

Some hours later, 2 more targets were successfully taken by Anonymous, this time it is Mosekspertiza – state-owned company, created by Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Capital Legal Services – Russian law firm that practices law in various areas. The later leak is relatively small one (200,000 emails, approx 65 GB of data), especially in comparison with Mosekspertiza that accounted for 150,000 emails; 8,200 files and more than 483 GB of data.

Lipetsk Mechanical Plant

Anonymous targets are not just state-owned and sanctioned enterprises, they also target companies that supplying Russian troops. Latest hack was of Lipetsk Mechanical Plant that manufactures anti-aircraft and tank missiles. 25 GB of emails were leaked and made available for the general public.

Russian Orthodox Church

And a cherry on a top – fresh new hack was of Russian Orthodox Church’s charitable wing and comprises of 57,500 emails or 15 GB of data. Looks like this time Anonymous has something interesting, as this information was not made public but being offered only to journalists and researchers, due to the nature of data.
