Government of Ukraine Can Now Access ICEYE Satellites, Thanks to “People’s Bayraktar” Project

On August 18, it was announced where exactly the funds collected as part of the “People’s Bayraktar” project were spent. As it became known, the Serhiy Prytula Foundation signed an agreement with ICEYE, which gives the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine full access to all systems and capabilities of one of the satellites. ICEYE also posted the same information on its Twitter, depicting the Crimean bridge in the photo.

In addition, access to the database of the entire group of SAR satellites will be provided. This will allow the Ukrainian military to receive radar satellite images of critical locations with a high update frequency.

“ICEYE owns the most developed radar satellite imaging technology in the world as of today,” says Serhiy Prytula, founder of the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation. “This agreement is a significant step in responding to the Government of Ukraine’s urgent request for critical earth observation data and it will greatly benefit our Armed Forces.”

ICEYE satellites monitor the Earth in the microwave range (SAR), which allows obtaining images of the surface at any time of the day and under any weather conditions. The resolution of the images is 25 cm per pixel. This makes it possible to distinguish even individual people in images.

The amount of the deal was USD 17 million. To be reminded that after the completion of fundraising for the purchase of Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, the BAYKAR company volunteered to provide them to Ukraine free of charge.
