HATOR VAST Pro desk and Arc Fabric chair Review: How to build a comfortable gamer’s place

Despite the fact that gamers are different people, the youngest play on tablets, and the oldest are older than my mother and grandmother combined… Despite different genders, different preferences, there are things that are more or less universal. And the overwhelming majority of gamers strive for comfort and quality. Well, and that the computer does not lag. I can’t speak for the computer, but comfort and quality are for HATOR. Today we are talking about the gamer’s workplace. What it should be like, what is important, what is not. And how cool you can make your workplace with the HATOR VAST Pro desk and HATOR Arc Fabric gaming chair. And a little bit about the peripherals, of course.

HATOR VAST Pro table

But now, everything is in place, and we start… with the table. I personally distinguish two categories of requirements for a modern gaming desk, conditionally software requirements and hard requirements. That is, from the user and from the equipment that will be on the table.

Let’s start with the first one, because the table should be just wide enough so that you don’t have to hang your elbows. And deep enough to be comfortable to type on. And ergonomic. And have a drink holder.

The latter is more important than you might think. Because if you have a laptop, but not a transformer like the ASUS Flow X13/X16 in hut mode, then the laptop will most likely suck up the liquid spilled on the table surface, make a loud squawk, and your nighttime skating rink will cry. Therefore, the cup holder should be on the side.

A headphone holder is very desirable, unless you have headphones that are not universal for two devices. Because if they are, you hardly ever take them off your head. BUT! You still need to recharge them, so it’s advisable to have at least a few USBs. And yes, USB desks have been the norm for a long time. But old, creaky furniture is not the norm, no matter what anyone tells you.

It is also the norm for the modern gamer to be able to raise the gaming table to play standing up. And yes, it’s important because it gives the body physical activity, which is essential for gamers. And since no one is forcing you to play EXCLUSIVELY standing up, the mechanism for raising and lowering should work quickly, as quietly as possible, and withstand the load.

Ease of assembly is a factor that I left for last, as modern brands like HATOR have perfected it. A table weighing 30 kg will in any case require help from another person – just like when transporting it from the store. But it’s impossible to mix up the screws or the assembly order. Just follow the instructions and that’s it.

However, I will give two recommendations. If you are assembling it yourself, use the box as a stand, it is the perfect height for this. And, when you mount the control module, use the screw holes on the bottom of the tabletop. But they are just tiny. You don’t need to make them yourself.

With that, let’s move on from soft to hard requirements. The table must have a hard-wearing surface. It must be reliable and withstand a PC, monitor, mouse and everything else. Ideally, the surface should be able to withstand the role of an improvised mat, but this is not necessary if the mat is included, especially the entire length.

There should be at least basic cable management through the tabletop and, ideally, an extension cord stand. The table should not slide, should not wobble while printing, as my current one does, for example, it should have the softest possible corners and preferably look cool. The latter is not essential, but it’s nice.

And, as you can imagine, the HATOR VAST Pro table fulfils almost all the requirements. Width 140 cm, depth 60 cm, height adjustable from 75 to 115 cm, 18 mm table top, excellent and durable surface. The maximum load is 80 kg, there are organisers, soft corners, a drink holder, cable management, a headphone hook, and the motor works perfectly.

There are only two small issues. The first is that the drink holder cannot be placed to the right, only to the left. But I can explain this by the fact that we have a control module on the right, which is hardly waterproof. And the second thing is the lack of USB hubs. But this also affects the cost of the table, and the price is only $340. Which is an absolutely great price for an electronic gaming table of this size.

Besides, no one requires you to keep the table in its original state. You don’t want to draw all sorts of shapes on the tabletop with a ballpoint pen, like in school. Just buy an inexpensive USB hub and stick it with double-sided tape on the side or directly on the tabletop in ANY place you like. And you can have silicone organisers on the end. You can even put a Qi charger on top.

And the cables to all this will still look organic, because cable management will be left behind, and the whole thing can be connected to a single extension cord. However, this is not so simple – and in the next article I will explain why. But yes, the table needs some additional accessories to be in… perfect shape.

HATOR Arc Fabric armchair

Do you know what does NOT require additional accessories, cables, hubs, and is, in fact, perfect out of the box? HATOR Arc Fabric armchair. The frame is steel, the base is five-pointed reinforced aluminium. The chair can support up to 200 kg, seat width is 43 cm, minimum seat height is 49 cm, it can be raised up to 7 cm thanks to a category 4 gas lift.

The 4D armrests can be adjusted as you wish. The armrests have metal fittings, which is likely to have a positive impact on the service life, and definitely has a great effect on the tactile experience when using them. The filler is high-quality high-density foam of 65 kg/m3, and the cushions are filled with memory foam. The back of the chair can be tilted back up to 160 degrees. But the main advantage of the HATOR Arc Fabric is, in fact, the fabric upholstery. Which, in fact, is not such a popular solution on the market, and for good reason.

Because the material used in Arc Fabric has a number of very cool advantages over the traditional artificial leather in the “classroom”. The material is breathable, pleasant to the touch, and it will definitely be more pleasant to work in such a chair in the summer. If you know why I’m delighted with fabric headphone cushions, it’s even more so with armchairs.

In addition, the fabric is scratch-resistant and easy to clean, although you shouldn’t spill a glass of energy drink on the seat, as it won’t make the chair spin faster. And a small pleasant detail – there are as many as 11 colour options to choose from.

Actually, the combination of being able to stand at the table and play for a few hours, and then lower the table, tilt the chair back and rest on what are probably the best cushions I’ve ever seen on a chair is something special, separate, and without 5 minutes out of the ordinary. 10 out of 9, or even better.

Perhaps the only drawback of HATOR Arc Fabric is the price. It’s about $450. Although discounts are not uncommon, and for $370, for example, it is an absolute favourite. Oh, and by the way, the table is occasionally discounted, up to $250. Which is even more reason for me to recommend it.

Conclusion

Of course, a desk and a chair don’t make a complete workplace. You also need a gaming system, mouse, keyboard, headset and mousepad. I’ll talk about these accessories, as well as my recommendations for cable management, maybe next time.

As for the HATOR VAST Pro and HATOR Arc Fabric, they are excellent, premium and high-quality models that can become the basis for absolutely gorgeous work and play spaces.
