Ukraine continues to demonstrate rapid advancements in its military technology. One such breakthrough comes from Military Armored Company HUB, a young Ukrainian defense consortium and a participant in the Brave1 cluster. Their high-tech naval drone, “Katran,” has proven to be a game-changer at sea. The drone is actively involved in combat operations against Russian forces, showing its effectiveness. While details of its missions are classified for obvious reasons, the “Katran” has already become a formidable asset, making the Black Sea an even more dangerous area for the enemy.
According to the official Brave1 cluster Facebook page, the “Katran” is not just a naval drone but a high-tech combat system. Among its arsenal are torpedoes, a minigun, a machine gun, a man-portable air defense system (MANPADS), and other classified weaponry. With such powerful equipment, the drone can effectively target and destroy maritime, land, and even aerial threats. It has the capability to cover over 1,000 km and can carry out both strike and reconnaissance missions with ease.
The developer has also equipped the drone with a cutting-edge defense system, which, according to Mykhailo Fedorov, represents a “new standard of warfare.” The defense system not only includes electronic warfare capabilities but also features automatic threat detection and countermeasure deployment. This makes the “Katran” even more lethal to the enemy.
“I am proud of the Ukrainian developers from the Brave1 cluster — you are creating unique technologies not only for Ukraine but for the world,” added Mykhailo Fedorov, the Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology, and the Minister of Digital Transformation.
Recently, we reported that Brave1 and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine organized the international Defense Tech Innovations Forum 2025 in Kyiv. The event brought together over 3,000 participants from 40 countries. It was the largest event in Ukraine’s defense technology industry, where attendees had the opportunity to learn about game-changing innovations in warfare from Ukrainian developers and discuss the future of military technologies.
