Smartphones are one of the most integral part of our living. This smartphone market is one of the largest markets in the whole world and India is one of the biggest hubs. And come 2020, this market is expected to grow like a freak. These smartphone brands share the market values within all the brands available and each brand has its own share value. There is tough competition between two giants and the most trending now a days is Xiaomi vs Samsung.
But as you know not all are the best! Here are the top 5 brands which ruled the Indian market in 2020.
1. XIAOMI
From amongst all the smartphone brands available, China’s Xiaomi is still the number one smartphone brand in India even in 2020.
You very well know our current ongoing situations and problems with China. And recently India launched a Digital War against the country. Digital war means boycotting all the digital products that we get from China. And the smartphones too come under the digital category. But even after these circumstances, Xiaomi is still ruling the Indian smartphone market.
As compared to 2019 with a market share of 27%, the brand has increased its share by 3% and currently has about 30% of the total market share. Xiaomi has made about 10.3 million shipments this year in the first quarter of 2020. Xiaomi had a lot of awesome releases on its name in 2020 and these made it the number one smartphone brand in India.
Among the releases in 2020, the must prominent ones include the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro, the MI 10, POCO M2 Pro, MI 10 Pro, Black Shark 3 and many more. POCO M2 is the one of my choice and I highly recommend to buy cases for POCO M2 Pro as it simply gives an mesmerizing look to your handset.
2. VIVO
Vivo if one of the oldest and most preferred smartphone brands in India and you will find a lot of users of this brand.
This BBK owned company had a market share of 21% in the last quarter of 2019 and this slipped to a low 19.9% in the first quarter of this year. So Vivo saw a decrease of almost 2% in its market share rate in the first quarter of 2020. It still witnessed an annual growth of 48.9% in this year and managed to sell about 6.7 million units on India this year in the first quarter. Vivo made a mark in the Indian smartphone market this year with its expansion of the life budget smartphones which were musky introduced in 2019. And with that the company also managed to bring it some really awesome models into the market.
Amongst all the ones released, the best models are X50 and X50 Pro, Y50, V19, Y30, S1 Pro, V17 and many more. It still has a lot of boom releases in the upcoming time.
3. SAMSUNG
Thus was one of the biggest upsets of the smartphones market in 2020 with Samsung not being in the top or second spot.
The South Korean smartphone giant company Samsung have the customers their biggest setback when it slipped to the third position in the market share in the first quarter of this year. Samsung has been one of the top smartphone brand in India and had maintained its second spot since the last quarter of 2017 i.e. for almost two years. As seen in 2019, the brands had a market value of 19%. But until this time, the shares have decreased at an amount of 3% bringing the current market shares of the company to 16% only. The company had a lot of tries this year but those could not match the competition level of the likes of Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Realme. Thus the decrease was seen.
The best releases of Samsung we saw this year were the Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus, Note 20 Ultra, Note 10 Plus, Galaxy S20 Ultra and the best mid ranger Samsung Galaxy M31. Just a thing it is prone to damages so do not forget to buy back cover for Samsung Galaxy M31.
4. REALME
If you want to know what success really means, you need to look up to the smartphone brand named Realme.
Realme is currently the fastest growing smartphone brand not only in India but in the whole world. But undoubtedly the Indian market is its biggest market. This brand isn’t a pure brand even! It is a sub brand of the BBK owned company Oppo and is a part of it. But still it is more successful than its Godfather. In the last quarter of the year 2019, Realme had a small market share of only 8%. But within for more months, it saw a huge increase of 6% in the shares and until the months of April-May 2020, it had 14% of the market share.
The major releases this year were the C11, C12, C15, 6i, X3, Narzo 10 and 10A etc.
5. OPPO
Oppo is another BBK owned smartphone brand which is one of the oldest brands in the Indian market and is considered to be a good counterpart of Vivo. In 2020, the company has given us some good pieces like Reno 10X Zoom, Reno 2, 2Z, Z, Find X2 and Find X2 Pro and many more.
As a result the company saw no change in its market share. In the year 2019, it had a market share of 12% which was just the same as in 2020 and with more bang releases, these shares are expected to rise!
These were the five smartphone brands that ruled the Indian market in 2020. Adios!
