Audi infotainment systems for all vehicles launched from 2021 until now are getting ChatGPT integration into their infotainment system. Additionally, the brand also plans to bring this artificial intelligence system to other vehicles that are currently in the production pipeline and preparing for launch. Older Audi vehicles won’t get ChatGPT, as the system is only available for vehicles with the third-generation modular infotainment system (MIB 3).
But why is Audi taking this step, and why are they giving their users access to an artificial intelligence system? The purpose of this ChatGPT integration into Audi vehicles is to help make them smarter. ChatGPT will work together with the smart assistant for Audi users to help them out with carrying out basic commands. Audi says this new system will handle basic controls like infotainment, navigation, and AC controls all via voice command.
Unlike other smart assistants in various vehicles, this update coming to Audi cars will help users rely on natural language when giving commands. So there will be no need to coin your words in a way that is simplified for the system to understand. As long as users are speaking with natural and understandable language, the system will be able to understand their requests.
Aside from basic in-vehicle controls, this new system will also help Audi users with basic questions. This might be basic information knowledge, and it’ll be important for drivers who need to get quick information on a range of topics on the go. So ChatGPT isn’t replacing Audi’s voice command system, but only helping to make it better.
Now, voice commands will feel more like a conversation with your vehicle while on the go. Audi says that this will help drivers stay focused on the road, as they won’t need to shift their focus to confirm if their voice command was understood. Owners of Audi vehicles from 2021 will get this system on board, and newer Audi vehicles will come with it at launch.
