In new reports, we learn that more Genesis hybrid models are currently in the production pipeline. These vehicles will help to satisfy the growing need for hybrid vehicles among Genesis buyers worldwide. According to Mike Song, the global head of Genesis, “the market and the customers” demand more hybrids than EVs.
For this reason, the luxury brand will turn its attention to the production of more hybrid models. This is a bit off track considering that Genesis has been planning an EV-only product launch for next year. But considering the current market demand surrounding Genesis vehicles, the brand is making this change as it prepares for its next wave of vehicles.
Information on this change to the previous plan of Genesis that the automotive industry is aware of came at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now with this new change, the automotive industry will be expecting more from the Genesis line-up for next year. While this change is surprising to the industry, it doesn’t mean that Genesis is giving up on building electric vehicles.
The brand will still focus on building a lot of EVs for 2025, but alongside these EVs will be hybrid models. Possibly, with each EV model launch, there will be a corresponding hybrid model to help cater for the needs of Genesis buyers. There is also no clear information on the nature of these hybrid vehicles that Genesis is planning to launch next year.
Whether they will be full hybrid vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles, we aren’t sure. Whatever the brand is planning, we hope to get more details in the coming months. The current Genesis hybrid models might also give some insight into what we should expect for 2025.
