Lucid Air is currently seeing a recall over loss of drive and coolant issues

-

In a surprising turn of events, we learn that the Lucid Air model is getting a recall from owners across the United States. This recall is a result of some issues affecting the vehicle’s drivetrain and windshield defrost system. Some vehicle owners are recording a loss of drive on their vehicles as a result of the high voltage system on board.

The American EV manufacturer notes that this issue affects the Air models between the 2022 and 2023 model year. Owners of Lucid Air models manufactured within this period will have to send their vehicles back to have the fault fixed. This loss of drive issue has been noticed in about 10 Lucid Air vehicles and is a result of possible intermittent hardware connections.

In these 10 occurrences, putting the vehicles into drive or reverse leads to a loss of drive, preventing the car from moving. To prevent users from getting hurt Lucid and the NHTSA are issuing a recall of over 5251 Air models from around the US. Well, the loss of drive issue is just one of the major concerns that is prompting Lucid to issue this recall on their 2022 and 2023 Air models.

Due to the malfunctioning of the High Voltage Coolant Heater (HVCH) system, about 74 Lucid Air vehicles failed to defrost their windshields. This particular issue affects Air models that were manufactured before February 2023. Failing to activate the windshield defrost system in certain weather conditions poses a risk to the driver’s life, hence prompting a recall.

While Lucid has put out a software remedy to this issue, there’s a need to properly attend to the issue. If you own a Lucid Air in the US, you might get a recall order or a software update prompt which comes with the important fixes for these issues. It’s good to see Lucid’s swift response to providing a fix to this issue on their Air models.
