Gaming smartphones are not exactly the most popular segment among users, and not all manufacturers even have such models in their lineup. Moreover, the prices of these devices are often anything but affordable. However, there are relatively budget-friendly options available, such as the Infinix GT 20 Pro, priced at around $367 or €336. It stands out with its unique design featuring the Mecha Loop LED interface and comes with IRX certification. Let’s take a closer look at what makes the GT 20 Pro interesting.

Package contents
The packaging of the Infinix GT 20 Pro matches the style of the device itself, keeping with the gaming theme. There’s no need to go into detail about the box, so I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves.
Inside the box you will find:
- smartphone
- USB Type-C cable
- 45 W charger
- case
- protective glass
- technical documentation
The case mirrors the design of the back of the Infinix GT 20 Pro and features cutouts that allow you to see the device’s lighting. Speaking of which, the lighting offers various color options and modes.
Design, ergonomics, build quality
Undoubtedly, the appearance of a smartphone plays a significant role for many users, and it’s hard to call the design of the Infinix GT 20 Pro standard. It’s immediately clear that this is a gaming device. The new model follows the style of the GT 10 Pro, featuring a transparent back with a distinctive pattern and LED lighting.
We have the “orange” version for review, though calling it that is somewhat conditional. The body is dark blue with orange accents on the back and around the camera module.
The camera module consists of three sensors and a flash. It’s quite large and designed to match the overall style of the smartphone. The module itself is dark gray with two orange stripes.
The side frames are made from a combination of plastic and aluminum. The left side is empty, while the right side features the power button and volume controls. These buttons are positioned at a comfortable height for easy access.
On the bottom edge, we find the USB Type-C port, SIM card slot, speakers, and a microphone hole. The top edge houses another microphone, additional speakers, an IR blaster, and a “sound by JBL” label.
The device is quite large. With dimensions of 164.26 × 75.43 × 8.15 mm, it weighs 194 grams. It has flat edges with slight rounding, which prevents it from digging into the palm and makes it comfortable to hold. However, the back is slippery and collects fingerprints, likely due to the lack of an oleophobic coating. This issue can be mitigated by using the included case. The same problem applies to the screen protector that’s pre-installed; it also attracts fingerprints, and if your hand is even slightly damp, swipe marks will be visible.
It’s worth highlighting the LED lighting. Infinix has included 4 lighting effects and 8 color options. You can set different combinations for incoming calls, notifications, charging, and music playback.
There’s also a party mode where the lighting effects stay continuously on, as well as automatic activation when launching games.
The front panel features a 6.78-inch display, which the manufacturer calls frameless. To be fair, there are still very thin bezels: 1.65 mm at the top, 2.1 mm at the bottom, and 1.3 mm on each side. The screen-to-body ratio is 94.3%.

Infinix GT 20 Pro display
The Infinix GT 20 Pro features a 6.78″ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2436×1080, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. It has a pixel density of 393 ppi, a peak brightness of 1300 nits, and a PWM frequency of 2304 Hz.
There are plenty of settings available, so you can easily customize the device to your liking. You can choose between dark and light themes, which can be scheduled. Additionally, there are options for brightness levels, adaptive brightness, eye protection modes, high brightness mode, and color styles.
As usual, you can select the screen refresh rate (automatic switching, 60 Hz, 120 Hz, or 144 Hz). There’s also an option called Ultra-Touch, which allows you to adjust the sensitivity for touch and swipe actions.
The display is indeed impressive. The black depth is excellent, with bright and vivid colors. There’s no noticeable graininess or flickering. The image remains clear under sunlight, and the viewing angles are good.
Performance
The Infinix GT 20 Pro is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate. The CPU architecture includes 1×3.1 GHz Cortex-A78, 3×3.0 GHz Cortex-A78, and 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Although it’s a 2022 processor, it remains relevant and performs well in gaming. The graphics are handled by the Mali-G610 MC6. The smartphone comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, expandable by an additional 12 GB, and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, which cannot be expanded. While the lack of expandable storage is disappointing, the available space should be sufficient for most users.
I’d like to remind you that this is the first Infinix smartphone to feature the auxiliary gaming chip Pixelworks X5 Turbo. It enables image output using MEMC (Motion Estimation Motion Compensation), a technology that increases the frame rate up to 120 fps, making the image clearer, more detailed, and smoother—very useful for gaming—and also helps reduce power consumption.
If we set aside the numbers and talk about personal impressions from using the device, the GT 20 Pro performs excellently. I’m referring to standard everyday use: social media, browsing, messaging apps, various applications, video watching, and photo and video capture. Switching between apps and tabs is instantaneous, with no delays or lags in performance.
Games
Let’s move on to gaming performance. But first, I want to mention XArena. This is Infinix’s proprietary app where all the games installed on the smartphone are gathered. From here, you can configure and optimize them.
Asphalt Legends Unite
At maximum graphics settings, it consistently maintains FPS around 119. There are no drops or stuttering.
Mortal Kombat
Just like in the previous case, FPS remains at 119. There are no issues with the gaming experience. Unfortunately, there are no options to adjust the graphics settings here.
Genshin Impact
The game again does not provide options to adjust the graphics settings. Overall, the experience is good, and I didn’t notice any stuttering. FPS remains at 119.
Need for Speed No Limits
The game is running well, without any freezes. FPS 119, this is what you need
Undecember
At maximum graphics settings, the game achieves an FPS of around 42. Overall, the gameplay is comfortable, but occasional stuttering can occur. If you switch to medium graphics settings, the issue disappears, and the process feels faster. However, the FPS counter still shows the same value.
Overall, the Infinix GT 20 Pro delivers good performance in most games, providing a comfortable and enjoyable gaming experience.
Cooling
Infinix hasn’t overlooked the cooling system either. The smartphone features an expanded graphite plate made from phase change material. The water cooling system has been improved, and efforts were made to enhance heat transfer directly around the SoC by increasing the amount of thermal paste applied. In practice, the Infinix GT 20 Pro indeed did not overheat, making gaming consistently comfortable, even in hot conditions.

Infinix GT 20 Pro cameras
I want to remind you right away that the Infinix GT 20 Pro is a gaming smartphone, so don’t expect too much from the cameras. I didn’t have high expectations myself. Technically, the device features a main Samsung HM6 sensor with a resolution of 108 MP, a 2 MP macro lens, and another 2 MP auxiliary module serving as a depth sensor. It includes optical image stabilization, a Quad-LED flash, and AI-enhanced photo features. There’s also a 32 MP front camera for selfies.
So, how does it perform in practice? The Infinix GT 20 Pro takes quite good photos—bright and clear. The main condition is sufficient lighting. Personally, I found that in low light, the photos appeared “too realistic,” and I wanted to increase the saturation. However, this can be fixed with a couple of clicks in the editor or by enabling the AI mode on the camera. The AI mode does a decent job of enhancing photos, so it’s worth keeping it on. The selfies taken with the front camera also turn out well.
By default, the photo resolution is set to 12 MP. The 108 MP option needs to be enabled separately. On the smartphone screen, the difference is almost imperceptible, but such photos are significantly larger in size. While the images are more detailed, whether this is important for the average user is debatable. So, if you don’t plan to do post-processing or cropping, there’s little reason to enable the full resolution.
Evening photos are of average quality, with some issues regarding color balance. However, enabling the “Super Night” mode partially addresses this issue, resulting in more balanced and textured images.
Now, a bit about zoom. The GT 20 Pro features a 10x digital zoom. At maximum zoom, the image quality leaves much to be desired, with noticeable noise and loss of sharpness.
The macro shots are also unimpressive. There are occasional focus issues, and the level of detail and depth is lacking, with the background becoming heavily blurred. But what can you expect from a 2 MP lens?
The video quality, on the other hand, is quite satisfactory. The footage is sharp, with vibrant and rich colors. Videos can be recorded in 4K at 30/60 fps and in 1080p at 30/60 fps.
The camera app is simple and straightforward. There are a sufficient number of settings and modes.
Of course, the Infinix GT 20 Pro will not be able to provide a flagship level of images, but this is not required of it. This is the level of a solid mid-ranger.
Software
The GT 20 Pro runs on Android 14 with the custom XOS For GT 14.0.0 interface. The interface is intuitive, smooth, fast, and easy to set up. It offers plenty of customization options, allowing you to adjust the appearance of the menu, the smart panel, gesture controls, and more.
The pre-installed software includes Google apps and a small number of proprietary applications. There is no excessive bloatware or confusing apps, which is often a problem with Chinese smartphones.
Sound
The smartphone features stereo speakers with DTS technology support. There are several sound modes: Intelligent, Music, Video, Game, and Equalizer. According to Infinix, the sound is optimized with the help of JBL specialists.
In general, the sound is good, quite voluminous, and the volume level is sufficient.
Communications and wireless technologies
Infinix GT 20 Pro supports all 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G communication networks in the following bands:
- 2G: B2/B3/B5/B8
- 3G: B1/ B2/ B4/ B5/ B8, DL: CAT24, UL: CAT7
- 4G: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B17/B20/B28/B38/B40/B41/B42/B66, DL: CAT18, UL :CAT13
- 5G: n1/n3/n5/n7/n8/n12/n20/n28/n38/n40/n41/n66/n77/n78
The smartphone has a slot for 2 physical nano SIM cards. e-SIM support is not included. There are no issues with call quality.
It also features Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and an IR blaster. For location services, it includes the standard set: aGPS, GPS, GLONASS, and GALILEO.
Battery life of the Infinix GT 20 Pro
The Infinix GT 20 Pro is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. While this capacity isn’t the largest by today’s standards, especially for a gaming device, it’s worth noting that this smartphone is priced just over $350.
It features hypercharging and passthrough charging modes, along with settings for optimizing battery consumption and charging processes. The package includes a 45W charger. Charging from 0% to 100% takes just under an hour, specifically 58 minutes. However, there is no support for wireless charging.
With regular use, the battery lasts about 1 to 1.5 days. During gaming, this figure drops significantly, typically providing around 5 to 7 hours of use. Of course, these numbers are quite general and can vary depending on various factors, including the game itself and your device settings.
Conclusions and competitors
Overall, the smartphone comes with its compromises. It features a unique design, interesting LED lighting, solid hardware, good performance, an excellent display, comfortable gaming experience, and fast charging support. On the downside, it has less impressive cameras, and the back cover collects fingerprints, dust, and lint. There’s also no 3.5 mm headphone jack. However, considering the advantages mentioned and the fact that this is a gaming device priced just over $350, these drawbacks seem relatively minor. The price is another strong point for the Infinix GT 20 Pro.
As main competitors, we can mention the Redmi K60 and Xiaomi 13T. They have similar technical specifications and deliver good results in synthetic benchmarks, but they come at a higher price. The K60 is priced around $377/€338, while the 13T costs $435/€390 for the 12/256 GB version. The Poco X6 Pro offers more storage, a newer processor, faster memory, and slightly better performance, but it also comes at a higher price—$411/€368. For more budget-friendly options, the CUBOT Max 5 is worth mentioning (its review was published recently). It has similar hardware and performance but features slower charging, weaker cameras, and lacks 5G.
The Infinix GT 20 Pro is definitely worth considering. While it has its flaws, it also offers many advantages.
