The brand 8849 has announced a new addition to its lineup of rugged smartphones with an integrated projector — the 8849 Tank 4. The company, whose name references the height of Mount Everest in meters, is once again aiming to raise the bar with a device that combines durability and performance. Positioned as a suitable companion for outdoor enthusiasts, the Tank 4 continues the brand’s focus on devices built for tough environments. For reference, we’ve previously reviewed other models from 8849, including the Tank 3S and Tank 2.
Although the brand has yet to officially confirm the name or full specifications, some details about the 8849 Tank 4 have already surfaced. The device is expected to feature a built-in DLP projector with a brightness of 100 lumens, as well as a powerful camping flashlight. This combination makes it possible to take entertainment on the go — whether it’s a favorite movie or a Netflix series you’ve been meaning to catch up on during a break from the daily routine.
The smartphone runs on Android 14 and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. It will be available in two memory configurations:
- 12 GB RAM with 256 GB of internal storage
- 16 GB RAM with 512 GB of internal storage
As expected for a rugged device of this kind, the smartphone comes equipped with a large 11,600 mAh battery, aimed at delivering extended battery life in outdoor or off-grid scenarios. It also supports 66W fast charging, allowing users to quickly top up the battery when needed.
The 8849 Tank 4 also comes with a fairly comprehensive camera setup. It includes:
- 50 MP main sensor
- 64 MP night vision camera
- 8 MP telephoto lens
- 32 MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
To view photos, downloaded content, YouTube videos, or social media feeds, the smartphone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display. It offers a 2.6K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which should provide smooth visuals and decent image clarity. More details about the device will be available soon on the brand’s official website.
