Not everyone wants a VR headset and the pricing of the Apple Vision Pro makes it only affordable for a few. For these reasons, the new VR headset from Apple isn’t off to a nice start as things aren’t going well for the tech giant. New reports from a reliable Apple tipster point out that the production of this VR headset will be cut as the demand for the product isn’t meeting expectations.
Now Apple is planning to produce about 400,000-450,000 units of the Vision Pro headsets this year. This is not in line with the company’s initial plan to produce about 800,000 units this year. A cut to almost half of the initial production expectations clearly shows how badly the Vision Pro VR headsets are performing in the market.
Despite being a sensation at launch, this pair of VR headsets hasn’t lived up to the hype, as some initial buyers are returning their units. Others, however, are shying away from purchasing this pair of VR headsets entirely due to its pricing or everyday impracticality. Whatever the case is for most buyers, we see that this VR headset seems to be fading away from the minds of Apple fans.
The Apple Vision Pro is currently on sale in the US and is preparing for launch in other regions. This launch will take place later this year, and Apple is hoping to bulk up sales in these regions. Well, it’s hard to see how the sale of the Apple Vision Pro will boom in other regions after slumping in its home region.
Apple expects to see a shipment decline for this new VR headset next year. At launch, the hype around this new VR headset was enormous, but now it seems like people are looking the other way. After this product launches in other regions, we’ll keep an eye out to see how it’ll perform in terms of its sales.
