Recently, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense conducted a drone strike on the “Savasleyka” military airfield in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia. The attack was surprisingly effective—according to sources in military intelligence, three Russian aircraft were destroyed, and five more were damaged.
According to sources reported by journalists, the attack destroyed a MiG-31K and two Il-76 aircraft, with an additional five aircraft damaged. It is likely that these were also MiG-31K.
The previous strike on the “Savasleyka” airfield was carried out by Ukrainian forces on August 13. During that attack, a fuel and lubricant storage facility was hit, and a MiG-31K aircraft was damaged. According to satellite intelligence, at the time of the attack, the airfield housed 11 MiG-31K aircraft, an Il-76 aircraft, and five Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters.
Recently, the General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the “Kavkaz” plant in the Rostov region. The facility stored oil and petroleum products, which were supplied, among other uses, to the Russian occupation forces.
According to the official Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the mission was carried out by the GUR in coordination with the Armed Forces and other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. As a result, at least two areas of fire were observed at the plant.
The capabilities of drones are currently hard to overestimate, making them an extremely valuable resource for the military. Today, the Ministry of Defense announced that the “Defense Procurement Agency” has signed a series of agreements with Ukrainian companies for the purchase of drones, electronic warfare equipment, and communication systems.
“We consciously focus on products manufactured in Ukraine. This not only enhances our defense capabilities but also promotes the development of the national economy and the creation of jobs,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Dmytro Klimenkov. “Purchasing drones, electronic warfare equipment, and communication systems from our own producers allows us to quickly acquire the most advanced technology and be confident in its quality and suitability for the needs of the Armed Forces.”
