Recently, we reported that the Ukrainian service Boosteroid, which allows users to run games on remote servers and stream them to their devices via cloud technology, found itself embroiled in a controversy. Users spotted a Russian-made game in the service’s catalog.
A user with the Twitter account Cloud Gaming Hub pointed out that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 had appeared in Boosteroid’s catalog. This project is being developed by Saber Interactive’s office in St. Petersburg, and two of the company’s three founders are Russian.

This outraged the Ukrainian gaming community and developers. So, we reached out to the company and asked them to comment on this decision. Here’s their response:
“The company’s stance is to not include games from Russian companies. However, Boosteroid’s commitment to providing access to high-quality games remains steadfast. Based on this, decisions were made regarding games like *War Thunder* and *Atomic Heart*,” Boosteroid commented. “In the case of *Space Marine 2*, the decision was made after consultations and discussions with strategic partners. This game is part of the iconic *Warhammer 40,000* series, which holds great significance for the global gaming community and key stakeholders important to our company. Development involved studios and teams from the UK, Hungary, Denmark, Estonia, and other countries. According to our information, the publisher does not make payments to legal or physical entities in Russia.”
The company also acknowledged the Ukrainian community’s reaction to the game’s release on Boosteroid. “This decision was not easy for us either. We are currently removing the game for Ukrainian users in response to numerous requests from players in Ukraine,” company representatives said in a comment to Root-Nation.
