It seems like both CAT and Motorola Defy will need to find new partners as Bullitt Group folds. The British company responsible for the manufacturing of rugged devices is packing up its business after a financial setback. This is not only bad news for the firm, as its workers will also feel the effect of this sad turn of events as we edge further into the year.
Aside from CAT and Motorola Defy, another partner that might feel the effect of Bullitt’s pack-up is MediaTek. Last year, Bullitt made the headlines for several reasons, one being its partnership with MediaTek, which became public at MWC23. This partnership aimed to develop satellite connectivity tools that users will rely on in the event of a network outage.
Last year, Bullitt Group, in partnership with MediaTek and Motorola Defy, launched the two-way satellite connectivity device. This device took a ton of the group’s attention and investment, but this seems to have affected its business. Some Bullitt Group employees have taken to their LinkedIn pages to share information on the situation on the ground.
These employees are now looking for employment elsewhere as Bullitt Group might struggle to revive its business. Its partners like Motorola and CAT might move over to other firms to handle the development and sale of their rugged smartphones. The satellite connectivity initiative of this firm in collaboration with Motorola Defy and MediaTek might not see a successor with this turn of events.
