According to a new report, there are now over 100 BYD dealers in Brazil, and this goes to prove that the brand is gaining ground in the region. This milestone was reached by the firm a few days ago after the 100th dealer store opened its doors to customers. Well, this is not the last dealer store that the region will get, as there are plans to open more stores to help retail BYD vehicles in Brazil.
Our sources point out that by the end of this year, there might be well over 250 BYD dealer stores in Brazil. All of this is part of BYD’s expansion plan into Brazil, and we started seeing these moves last year. Currently in Brazil, BYD retails its plug-in hybrid and pure hybrid vehicles and these stores serve as the purchase point for these vehicles.
At the moment, BYD ships its vehicles into the region and then retails them to customers via these 100 outlets. Last year, the Chinese automobile manufacturing firm made plans to kick off manufacturing of its vehicles in Brazil. To do this, they had to lay out plans for the setting up of a manufacturing site for the production of these vehicles.
This site will hold an industrial complex, a new energy car production plant, and lastly a plant for the development of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. Altogether, these three plants will account for the generation of over 5000 jobs for locals. While this plan hit the internet last year, the actual development of this site kicked off this year.
Once this manufacturing site is ready, it’ll roll out over 150,00 vehicles per year. By then, there will be more than 100 BYD dealers in Brazil to cater to the sale of each vehicle the plant rolls out. BYD’s global expansion plan taking place in Brazil is proving to be very effective.
