Cubot Develops Its First Gaming Smartphone, Max 5

The well-known Chinese manufacturer of rugged smartphones and tablets, Cubot, is working on expanding its device portfolio. It may soon introduce its first gaming smartphone. According to leaked specifications, the device, named Cubot Max 5, will be available in black.

The smartphone, running on Android 14, will be powered by an 8-core MediaTek Dimensity 8200 (MT6896) processor, featuring:

  • 1 Cortex A78 core at 3.1 GHz
  • 3 Cortex A78 cores at 3.0 GHz
  • 4 Cortex A55 cores at 2.0 GHz
  • Mali-G610 MP6 GPU.

This processor scored over 910,000 points on AnTuTu. It will be complemented by:

  • 12 GB of RAM, expandable by an additional 12 GB
  • 256 GB of flash storage
  • 5100 mAh battery

The smartphone will support 33W charging (with the charger included in the package).

Cubot Max 5 leak

The manufacturer will equip the device with a 6.95″ display featuring an FHD+ resolution of 1080×2460 and a 144Hz refresh rate. The rear panel will have a triple camera setup, which includes:

  • 100 MP main sensor with PDAF autofocus
  • 5 MP macro camera
  • 0.3 MP auxiliary sensor

The device will feature a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

Cubot Max 5 will also support NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 6. A fingerprint scanner will be installed on the side panel. The device will measure 173.9×78.9×9.2 mm. There is currently no information available about the release date of the new smartphone.
