Ukraine plans to produce robotic systems for demining

-

Two landmark memorandums were signed in London as part of the Ukraine Recovery Conference, which relate to the organisation of production of modern demining equipment in Ukraine. The plans to localise the production of Western-style robotic demining systems in Ukraine were announced on the official website of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

The Committee on Economic Development says that this is exactly the kind of recovery the country needs, when our partners provide us with demining technology and Ukraine provides production facilities and people. Foreign companies get new markets, and Ukraine creates new jobs with decent salaries and trains local producers.

DOK-ING

One Memorandum was signed by the Croatian corporation DOK-ING d.o.o. and the Ukrainian company A3 TECH Ukraine, which specialises in high-quality agricultural machinery and has a complete production cycle. “DOK-ING d.o.o. produces multi-purpose vehicles, including fire trucks, mining vehicles and robotic demining systems. Currently, one of the best demining machines in the world, the lightweight MV-4-SCORPION and the world’s only robotic system with a double tool, MV-10-BISON, manufactured by DOK-ING d.o.o., are operating in Kherson region.

The memorandum provides for after-sales support of DOK-ING robotic systems by Ukrainian specialists, production of components at domestic facilities, etc. The Croatian manufacturer will provide training for Ukrainian specialists.

The second Memorandum was signed between the Danish manufacturer Hydrema and the Ukrainian specialised machinery manufacturing company Pozhmashina. Hydrema is an international group of companies that develops, manufactures and sells high-tech earthmoving equipment and demining vehicles. Their product range includes the effective Hydrema 910MCV demining machine, which defuses anti-tank and anti-personnel mines containing up to 10 kg of explosives.

Under this Memorandum, Ukrainian businesses will produce components for Hydrema equipment that will be supplied to the domestic market and exported to other countries.

“Localising the production of demining machines will allow us to promptly resolve issues of ongoing maintenance and repair of equipment, as well as the rapid supply of the necessary components. Including through their production in Ukraine,” said Yulia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine. – “This will help to speed up the solution of one of the key tasks for today – demining the territory of our country and returning the land to economic use. Ukraine will become a leading site for the production and testing of the latest demining equipment.”

She added that Ukraine has significant potential to succeed in this area.
