Files By Google Important file section has been shut down for users

-

The Files By Google Important files section is now in the final part of its days as it is shutting down for users. Stepping into the new year, Google already had plans to do away with this feature and users will soon be unable to access this section in the Files app. Funny enough, this feature was only available for a year, as it hit the launch stage last year for users of the Files app in India.

The use of this section in the app was to store IDs, passports, and other important government-issued documents. With this, users will no longer have to scour through their device’s storage in search of a particular government-issued document or ID. After setting the Important file section up, it scans the device’s files to search for government-issued documents or IDs.

According to the recent reports on this feature, by next month it will no longer be available for usage. Google is now giving users who have documents stored in the Files By Google Important files section to move their files. Failure to do this will mean that they lose these important documents, as the removal of this feature will result in the deletion of all files it holds.

Users in India will also receive a notification to this effect to remind them to take necessary actions and save their files. If you’re a reader in India, you can save your files in the Important file section by sharing them with the regular file storage option on your device. By doing this, you’ll be able to save your files from being deleted as Google moves to shut down this feature next month.
