Genesis GV70 EREV is currently undergoing development

-

The Genesis GV70 is a great luxury EV (also available as a gas-powered car) but the Genesis GV70 EREV aims to be a better luxury EV. Hyundai is preparing to kick off the development of the extended range version of the already popular GV70 luxury SUV. Recent reports support this information, and the details point out that Hyundai might take a different approach to the technology that this coming vehicle will launch with.

Currently, the GV70 is available as a pure EV, so it only relies on charging its battery to function properly. With the coming EREV version of the vehicle, things will be done a bit differently to ensure that the vehicle can achieve a longer range on a single charge. This coming version of the luxury electric SUV will come with a petrol generator as well as a large battery.

The generator will be responsible for charging the battery to ensure that users get extra range on a full charge. So when the battery runs out, the vehicle can draw on power from the generator to go a few more miles. Technically, the coming Genesis GV70 EREV will pack a great range on a single charge and extra range thanks to power from the generator.

This generator won’t power the vehicle’s wheels but just charge the battery pack. However, there are a few sacrifices that this coming vehicle will bring in comparison with the regular all-electric version. Such sacrifices will include giving up on the tiny front boot that the current GV70 EV SUV offers.

Replacing this tiny front truck will be the petrol generator that will charge up the battery. It’s not clear when this EREV version of the luxurious Genesis GV70 SUV will hit the launch stage. This launch might take place next year, as the 2024 version of the electrified GV70 is already available for sale on the brand’s official website starting at $66,450.
