Google Maps navigation is now testing the use of 3D buildings

-

Google Maps navigation feature on the app for smartphones or Android Auto is in line to get a new feature. This new feature is the use of 3D buildings on the app while navigating for more accurate representations. Well, this feature is not all that new as it has been in existence for quite a while, but this will be the first time it’ll be available for use during navigation.

A few years ago, Google rolled out the use of 3D buildings on the Maps app. Users could then see buildings around them in their 3D form, and this came in handy for some users of the app. But ever since its launch, this feature has been unavailable for use while navigating with the app.

Now, Google Maps users on Android and iOS devices are already getting access to 3D buildings while navigating. The folks at 9to5Google have started noticing this feature on some users’ devices. According to them, this feature is rather new as it currently is in its testing phase with a few users having access to it on the app.

The 3D buildings feature on Google Maps navigation is not only available for mobile devices. Some users of Android Auto in their vehicles are also noticing this feature while navigating. This feature gives users a live representation of the buildings around them while they drive or walk using Google Maps navigation.

At this moment, access to this feature is limited to some testers, but it might roll out anytime soon. Some in certain regions might not get access to this feature as they might be unable to see 3D buildings in their surroundings. While this might be the case, Google will still roll out this feature to Google Maps users globally once the testing is over.
