Some RCS users are now getting access to the new Google Message Photomoji feature. The announcement that this feature will make its way to RCS users hit the internet a few days ago alongside other new features. The Photomoji feature and other new features are part of Google’s initiative to celebrate crossing 1 billion RCS users globally.
The rollout of this feature is rather subtle, and most RCS users on the Google Message platform might just miss it. Those with access to this feature on their apps will notice a circular badge that sits over the emoji button (seen after holding down a message for a reaction) on the space for typing in messages. Just tapping on the emoji button will take the user to their regular emoji, GIF, and sticker page.
To access the Photomoji feature, users will need to press and hold the emoji button for a while. This will take them to a media picker page, where users can select an image of their choice they wish to turn into a Photomoji. Users can pick any photo they want to turn into a Photomoji and the system will analyse the picture and find elements within it that can become a Photomoji.
These elements will be highlighted, and then a user can pick which they want to become a Photomoji. Once the Photomoji is ready, users can then use them in chats as reactions and it’ll be the size of a regular emoji reaction. Other users can then see the Photomoji reactions and they tap on it to expand its size.
Each Google Messages Photomoji that users create will be easily accessible for future usage. If you use the Google Message RCS platform to text with others, you’re in line to get this new feature currently rolling out. The feature will become available to all users for usage via an OTA update that’s currently rolling out.
