Google announced that the Google.org AI Opportunity Fund: Europe program is now available for Ukraine as well. The program was first announced last February and was created in collaboration with the Center for Public Impact as part of the AI Opportunity Initiative for Europe. Its main goal is to help workers who are most affected by the changes in the labour market caused by the rapid development of AI.
Through an open competition, Google.org will select several non-profit organizations and public associations that work with these categories of workers. The winners of the competition will be given special educational programs in the Ukrainian language, which will cover basic knowledge of artificial intelligence, and they will also receive comprehensive support and counselling.
The total budget of AI Opportunity Fund: Europe for Ukraine is €700,000, which includes sub-grants and intensive training programs. As reported on the Google blog, “non-profit organizations and civil society organizations or social enterprises, including trade unions and industry associations, municipalities, charities and professional associations, etc., that work with people who need to gain confidence” can apply to participate in the program in the use of artificial intelligence tools in their professional activities”.
Acceptance of applications for participation in the program is already open, it will last until June 28, 2024. More details about its work and the registration form can be found on the special page of Google.org at this link.
