Google Tensor G4 might be the chip on the Pixel Fold 2 to launch in Q4

The successor to the Pixel Fold might launch in Q4 2024 using a Google Tensor G4 processor. This will go against the expectations of most netizens who feel that this device should use the Tensor G3 processor found on the Pixel 8 series. However, new information on this coming device points out that Google might have other plans for their next-gen foldable smartphone.

Considering that the Pixel Fold launched before the Pixel 8 series last year, some might expect this year’s entry to also launch before the Pixel 9 series. If this is the case, then the coming Pixel Fold 2 will be the first device from Google to use the Tensor G4 processor. This might not be the case, as Google might bring the Pixel Fold 2 in the same month that the Pixel 9 series will launch.Google Tensor G4

Our sources are pointing to October to be the launch month of this coming foldable device, and also the launch month for the Pixel 9 series. So instead of coming with the Tensor G3 processor, this coming foldable device might join the Pixel 9 series in featuring the more powerful Google Tensor G4 processor. So it’s safe to expect similar power and performance from this coming foldable device and the flagship entries from Google for the year.

If this information is accurate, then the only device to launch this year with the Tensor G3 processor is the Pixel 8a. This budget compact device will be launched in the coming months, possibly at the Google I/O event to take place in a few months. All other device entries from Google will stick to the Tensor G4 processor.

In addition to this coming processor, Google might be planning to launch the Pixel Fold 2 with 16GB RAM capacity. Last year, the Pixel Fold launched with 12GB RAM capacity with optional storage variants. In the coming months, we’ll get more information on this coming foldable device as well as the improvements it’ll bring in comparison with its successor.
