In Turkey, at the RMK Marine shipyard in Istanbul, the second Ukrainian Ada-class corvette, “Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky,” was launched. This was announced on Twitter by the publication Clash Report, which also shared photos taken during the ceremonial event.

The launch ceremony was attended by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska; Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov; Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa; and Haluk Bayraktar, the owner of Baykar Makina.

The Ada-class corvette was named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky by a decree from the President of Ukraine in the spring of this year. As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the shipyard at that time and reviewed the progress of its construction.

At that time, President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked everyone involved in the work on these military ships. “I am extremely grateful for the partnership with President Erdogan and all the defense companies from Turkey and Ukraine that are contributing to this powerful outcome towards restoring peace for Ukraine,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

Rustem Umerov noted on his Facebook page that the corvettes “Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky” and “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” were built in Turkey due to Russian aggression and will receive the most modern weaponry, becoming a significant addition to the Ukrainian fleet. “I am grateful to our Turkish partners for their support during these challenging times for our country,” added the Minister of Defense.

Recently, we reported that the corvette “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” of the Ukrainian Navy completed sea trials. The Naval Forces Command’s Communications Directorate released a video of the trials, showing the corvette leaving the dock. Sea trials are necessary for specialists to test the ship’s systems and their performance under various conditions. Additionally, the video showcased the corvette’s armament.
