In the Chinese automobile industry, Hongqi stands out as a luxury brand, just like Rolls-Royce of the Western world. This luxury brand is now working to launch its smartphone, just like we see with NIO and Polestar. What’s the main purpose of launching a smartphone as a Chinese car brand, and why is this becoming a weird trend in the industry?
Well, most of these Chinese brands like NIO and Polestar (Geely-owned) don’t aim to massively sell their smartphones to everyone. For the better part of this move, it’s ported to the potential buyers or owners of the brand’s vehicles. These smartphones aim to offer users a premium experience as well as better technological integration with the vehicle.
Hongqi on its part, being a luxury brand, might take this move to the next level. To make this premium automobile brand’s smartphone a real thing, the brand is partnering with Ecarx. If you aren’t already aware, Ecarx is a global automobile technology provider, and they’ll work on developing and integrating this coming smartphone into Hongqi vehicles.
Some of the integration features that this coming device will feature might include control of some functions within the vehicle. With the smartphone in hand, users might be able to remotely start their luxury Hongqi vehicle. The smartphone might also be used for moving the car around without a driver in the cockpit.
These seamless integrations will be built into the coming Hongqi vehicle at launch. At this moment, we can only speculate about this coming device from the Chinese luxury automobile brand, Hongqi. Considering the quality and amount of detail in each Hongqi vehicle currently available as well as concept models, we can not wait to see their coming smartphone.
