More details on the Huawei P70 Pro or Art model using a 1-inch sensor are now surfacing on the internet. As previously noted, the coming Huawei flagship series will use a 1-inch hybrid 1G6P lens, but it doesn’t end there. New information now reveals that the 1-inch rear camera sensor on the coming device will be from Sony.
The report clarifies that this 1-inch rear camera sensor is the Sony IMX989, and it’ll undergo some modifications. These will help step up the camera experience that users of the Huawei P70 Pro get in comparison with users of other 1-inch smartphones. Well, this large 1-inch sensor will not be the only rear camera on this device as it’ll pack a few others.
Digital Chat Station states that the combination to launch on this device is OV50H and IM989. It is also good to note that these aren’t the only sensors to launch on this device, as it might pack up to three rear cameras. However, at this moment, experts are only able to identify the two sensors stated above.
The first is the OV50H (but there are claims of the Pro and Art models using the OM64B sensor) is from Omnivision and is already in use on devices like the new IQOO 12 Pro. Following this is the IMX989, and this is a Sony 1-inch sensor that will usher Huawei into the 1-inch smartphone camera party. Modifications to this sensor will bring the RYYB pixel grids to ensure better photography.
In addition to this Sony IMX989 sensor will be the 1G6P optics technology as well as a variable aperture. Already, Huawei has put this variable aperture technology to use on the Mate 60 series, but they might make improvements to the technology. At the moment, Huawei is already stockpiling the Sony IMX989 sensors and making adjustments to them.
Huawei’s XMAGE rear camera system will also bring some impressive photography features to users. At the moment, the launch period of the devices in the P70 series is not clear. But netizens can expect the Huawei P70 Pro and Art models to top DXOMark camera rankings after launch.
