Streamers are now getting notifications that Hulu password sharing is coming to an end. This is a move that is similar to that which Netflix took last year to help save their business and get more users to pay the monthly subscription fee. Hulu says that from next month, users of its service will only be able to share passwords with devices that are within their household.
By March 14, users of the Hulu streaming platform will no longer be able to share their passwords with others who don’t stay in the same household with them. Users started getting notified of this coming change sometime last week via email. However, Hulu updated its user statement last month to include this change that is now coming to the streaming platform’s host of services.
In section 2 of the subscriber agreement under ‘Account Sharing,’ Hulu clearly states that users “may not share your subscription outside” their household. Users who share their password with other devices that aren’t in their household will get their subscription terminated. Well, there are a few things to take to mind as this new password-sharing restriction goes into effect next month.
This new change to Hulu password sharing is not only going to affect the streaming platform. Similar changes are coming to other Disney streaming services like Disney Plus and ESPN Plus. Users of these services will also not be able to share their passwords with devices that are not in their household.
If you aren’t already aware, Disney owns a majority stake in Hulu and will be taking control of the streaming platform this year. So the changes coming to Hulu will also be effective on other streaming platforms that Disney operates. More details on this password-sharing limitation and how it’ll work will become available in the coming weeks.
