MediaTek WiFi 7 chips are set to take on the industry next year and possibly outsell the competition. According to new reports, various tech companies are already placing orders with MediaTek to bring their WiFi 7 technology to use on various products. This is good news for not only the chip manufacturer but also the tech industry as the push to adopt WiFi 7 technology intensifies.
By next year, MediaTek will outsell the current leaders in the WiFi industry, hence growing its business. Currently, Broadcom is the leader in the WiFi industry, with their WiFi 6 chips in use on various devices. But times are changing, and the industry is shifting over to WiFi 7 and here MediaTek seems to have the upper hand in supplies for next year.
There’s no information on the number of orders from WiFi 7 chips that MediaTek has received from tech firms at this moment. But its WiFi 7 chips will be in use on Chinese mobile devices, Intel laptops, as well as American brands. MediaTek will share the WiFi stage with the likes of Qualcomm and Broadcom next year.
All three firms will battle for supplies on the coming Apple products that’ll require WiFi 7 capabilities. The Android market will be split between Qualcomm and MediaTek when it comes to the orders for WiFi 7 chip supplies. However, all chips will be produced using TSMC’s 6nm fabrication process.
This is good news for MediaTek’s WiFi business, as it has been struggling over the past few years. Next year, MediaTek will see its first breakthrough in the WiFi industry. By next year we’ll get to see the launch of various products that’ll use WiFi 7 technology from MediaTek as well as their competition.
