Chen Jin, the general manager of Lenovo’s Chinese mobile phone division, has shown the new folding smartphone Motorola RAZR 2022 to reporters. Chen showed the device live, but said almost nothing about its technical specs.
The first image shows the phone unfolded. It has rounded corners and a smaller chin compared to the previous two foldable RAZR models. Now it looks much more like a standard smartphone display. Side note: the previous RAZR models had a massive lower chin to give a nostalgic look. In addition, the RAZR 2022 will use a cutout for the selfie camera instead of the notch. On the outer part of the foldable there is an additional 3-inch screen and a module with two cameras.
Coming back to the new teaser, the company also shared a video teaser of the product on Weibo. This gives us an idea of the phone’s silhouette and its key design features, such as the enlarged external screen. There’s also a new dual-camera unit and an updated hinge.
The Motorola RAZR 2022 really looks more like a 2022 foldable smartphone. Especially when we compare it to modern foldables like the Galaxy Z Flip. However, only time will tell if Motorola’s foldable will have powerful enough specs to compete with Samsung’s offer.
According to the leaks, the RAZR 2022 will feature a 6.7-inch flexible P-OLED screen with an all-new hinge mechanism and a 120Hz refresh rate. The external display will have a diagonal of 3 inches. The camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. The battery might disappoint you with a capacity below the 3000 mAh. The phone is reportedly powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. The device may cost around €1,149. It is expected that the launch of the phone will happen at the end of July.
