Less than 24 hours after Motorola slightly teased the audience that it is planning to release a smartphone with a rather vague slogan “Unleash The Beast”, it suddenly decided to reveal all the cards and directly presented the Moto G64 5G model on social networks.
The post, which appeared on Motorola India’s official Twitter account, is meant to build hype ahead of the launch of the new smartphone, which is slated for April 16. And, it seems, the company succeeded. True, it is not yet known whether this mid-budget device with 5G support will go on sale in the global market, but there is a possibility.
This is the first smartphone based on the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 processor, which the manufacturers advertise as “extremely energy efficient” and capable of providing “high speeds”. Since this means nothing to users, it is worth noting that this is an 8-core processor on a 6nm process with a clock frequency of up to 2.5 GHz.
It certainly doesn’t compete with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is expected to be installed on the Edge 50 Ultra, but it still looks like a very well-balanced mid-range chip (at least on paper) that could well compete with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and even the SD 7+ Gen 3. Coupled with a huge 6000 mAh battery, it’s likely to deliver a pretty decent battery life.
According to the promo page already created on Flipkart, this smartphone will also support 33W fast charging and more interestingly, it will come with a 33W TurboPower charger as standard. Other specs include a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate support.
Since the best mobile games tend to use a lot of memory, Motorola plans to not only install up to 12 GB of RAM on the Moto G64 5G but also make it possible to expand this amount up to 24 GB. Despite everything, the device promises to be “super light” and “super thin” – 192 g and 8.89 mm. On its rear panel, a 50-megapixel camera with OIS support will be installed, as well as an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The front will have a 16 MP camera for selfies and video calls.
True, Motorola can only promise one major OS update after Android 14 (which the device launches out of the box), along with a solid three years of security patches. Of course, if the price of the Moto G64 5G turns out to be very tasty, many will ignore this drawback and focus on the undeniable advantages of the device.
