Motorola is opening a new chapter in its smartphone line-up, wrapping up its big launch in India with the launch of the Edge 50 Pro. This is a new premium smartphone in the upper middle price segment, equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, an AMOLED display with a resolution of 1220 pixels a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and a triple camera.
The Edge 50 Pro is built around a curved 6.7-inch POLED display with a 1220p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel has a peak brightness of 2000 nits and is also the first smartphone with Pantone-approved colours for more accurate reproduction of real-life colours and skin tones. The display is also equipped with a 50-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus and an under-screen fingerprint scanner.
On the back, there is a 50 MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.4 and OIS, as well as a 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens that also functions as a macro camera. Edge 50 Pro is Motorola’s first smartphone with an AI Photo Enhancement Engine, optimized for motion capture and colour segmentation.
The software includes Motorola’s new Hello UI interface based on Android 14, which offers artificial intelligence features to create custom wallpapers. Moto Edge 50 Pro will be the first phone to support Motorola Smart Connect, a new set of Motorola features that work on smartphones, tablets and PCs from Motorola and Lenovo with support for external displays and data synchronization. Motorola also promises 3 years of Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches.
The Edge 50 Pro is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 125W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, and is IP68 protected.
The Motorola Edge 50 Pro comes in black and lavender colours as standard. There is also a limited edition Moonlight Pearl colour designed by the Italian design house Mazzucchelli 1849.
The price starts from $383 for the version with 8/256 GB and up to $431 for the version with 12/256 GB.
