Nintendo has announced Alarmo, an innovative alarm clock that responds to body movements using motion sensor technology and plays iconic video game sounds to wake users up. Debuting this week for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, Alarmo will feature 35 different alarm sounds from five Nintendo games, including fan favorites like Super Mario Odyssey’s coin sounds, Splatoon 3’s ink splats, and the Parasail music from Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Wider availability for the general public is planned for mid-January 2025.
Just Nintendo being Nintendo
What sets Alarmo apart is its interactive nature. The alarm turns off when it detects that the user has physically left the bed. However, if multiple people are in bed, Alarmo may mistakenly stop the alarm when one person gets up but restart if another remains in bed. Nintendo has addressed this quirk, adding a special button mode.
Aside from its core alarm functionality, Alarmo comes packed with additional features. Users can track their sleeping patterns via the Records function and activate the Sleepy Sounds setting, which plays relaxing music to help wind down. For heavy sleepers, Firm Mode will make the alarm progressively more intense if users linger in bed.

Alarmo is priced at $99 in the US and will be available for Nintendo Switch Online members through the My Nintendo Store before its general release next year. It is speculated to be the mysterious wireless device with an embedded motion sensor that appeared in recent US Federal Communications Commission filings.
