All Nokia product packaging will take an eco-friendly stand and rely fully on recyclable materials. The smartphone manufacturer took this stand a while back and switched to using recyclable packing in some regions. However, this initiative isn’t available in all regions where Nokia retails its products, but all of that is going to come to an end.
According to available reports, Nokia is targeting to help hit a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions globally. To meet this target, Nokia is working to get rid of non-biodegradable elements that are currently part of some products they retail. This is a move from the smartphone manufacturer to support global efforts and reduce the rise in temperature by about 1.5°C in the coming years.
Just like other smartphone makers, Nokia ships their products in packages which might contain non-biodegradable elements. These elements get into the environment and because they can’t decay cause land pollution or air pollution when destroyed (by burning). This is just one way that products from smartphone manufacturers contribute to the release of greenhouse gases hence leading to pollution,
There are plans to change some elements in all Nokia product packaging that are harmful to the environment. These include non-biodegradable foam, plastic, bleaching, toxic materials, and chemical treatments. Nokia plans to get rid of these elements from its product packaging and switch over to using more eco-friendly materials.
Last year, Nokia won the prestigious Red Dot Award for its usage of sustainable materials in its product packaging. Now the company plans to use these materials more extensively in more regions where their products ship. In the coming years, Nokia fans around the world will get more familiar with the eco-friendly packaging on each product they purchase.
