Russian occupiers have committed another crime by destroying the dam of the Kurakhiv Reservoir. They blew up the Ternivska Dam in the village of Stari Terny in the Donetsk region, causing the water level to rise near the settlements of the Velykonovosilkivska community.
“Russians blew up the Kurakhiv Dam, causing flooding in several villages towards Baghatyr. Roads remain passable, but with certain restrictions. The movement of armored vehicles on the dirt roads around these settlements is, of course, limited,” writes the Telegram channel “Hovoryt Snayper.”
According to the Telegram channel of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, the strike potentially threatens residents of settlements along the Vovcha River — both in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Roman Padun, the head of the Kurakhiv city military administration, noted that it is currently impossible to inspect the dam near the village of Stari Terny, part of the Kurakhiv community, due to ongoing shelling. However, since the occupiers destroyed the dam, the water level in villages along the Vovcha River is rising.
“As of 16:00, it has been confirmed that the water level in the river within the Velykonovosilkivska community has risen by 1.2 meters. No flooding of residential areas has been recorded at this time,” stated Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration. “We continue to monitor the water level in the river and are prepared for any developments.”
