The rear camera sensor on the coming Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25+ devices will be Sony sensors. This will be a change from what will be in use on the soon-to-launch Galaxy S24 and S24+ smartphones. All devices on the Galaxy S24 series will make use of sensors that are developed by Samsung for usage on various smartphones.
This switch over to using Sony sensors in place of in-house Samsung sensors will not affect the top-of-the-line Ultra model. Information on this matter coming from its source Tech_Reve doesn’t go deep into the details. There’s no information on the type of Sony sensors that’ll be in use on all three rear camera sensors.
For the coming Galaxy S24 and S24+ Samsung will make use of in-house 50MP sensors. As for the Ultra model in the S24 series, it might also make use of a 200MP main camera sensor just like its predecessor, the S23 Ultra. But the reliance on Samsung in-house developed camera sensors might come to an end with the S25 series.
Both the base and the plus model on this coming series are to use Sony sensors on their rear cameras. This might bring some improvements to photography for these coming devices. So Samsung fans can start anticipating the photography upgrades that the Sony sensors will bring to the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
As for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung might rely on a new 200MP 1-inch ISOCELL sensor that is currently in development. The Galaxy S25 series that will bring these new sensors is still a year and a few months away from launch. So as we approach its launch, more details on these Sony sensors they’ll feature will become available.
