Škoda Auto has updated the hatchback and station wagon versions of its iconic Octavia. This model is rightfully considered the brand’s sales leader because over 7 million units were sold during its entire existence.
As reported in the company’s press service, the fourth modern generation of Octavia now has an updated look – in particular, we are talking about the radiator grille and LED matrix headlights. Full standard equipment includes a dual-zone Climatronic system or a 10-inch digital display (to be available later). Additional safety and assistance systems have also appeared in the model, and the number of ecological materials in the interior has increased.
“Our customers have high expectations for Octavia for a good reason, because the updates received by our best-selling model take it to a new level: a completely redesigned infotainment system, new auxiliary safety systems, increased use of sustainable materials and more powerful headlights,” says the chairman of the board Škoda Auto Klaus Zellmer. “I am sure that our latest Octavia will surprise and delight drivers and passengers.”
The fourth-generation Octavia uses updated front and rear bumpers and a radiator grille. The LED matrix headlights of the second generation, the LED taillights with animated indicators and the design of the alloy wheels have also been changed. It is reported that the new range structure includes four trim levels (Essence, Selection, Sportline and RS) and nine interior options.
Some model variants received new ecological materials for seats, instrument panels door panels, and a 10-inch digital display. The familiar 10-inch virtual cockpit with enhanced functionality and projection display remains available, while both versions of the digital instrument cluster and infotainment displays have received redesigned graphics.
A 13-inch infotainment display is available as an option for the Octavia for the first time, while a 10-inch one is standard. The updated Octavia now also features a Phone Box with more powerful 15W charging and ventilation and four USB-C fast charging ports with an output of 45W. A 15-watt USB-C port on the back of the interior mirror is standard from the Selection trim level up. The manufacturer also noted that Intelligent Park Assist (intelligent parking assistant) and Remote Park Assist (remote parking assistance) will appear in Octavia.
The engine line-up includes two 1.5 TSI petrol engines, each of which is available with mild hybrid technology, two 2.0 TSI petrol engines with increased power and two 2.0 TDI diesel engines. Power ranges from 85 kW (115 hp) to 195 kW (265 hp). In addition, Škoda Auto has expanded its comprehensive portfolio of active and passive safety functions. The new Attention and Drowsiness Assistant uses a wider range of data and parameters to evaluate the driver’s behaviour, and up to 10 airbags are installed in the updated Octavia.
The company says the Octavia Combi wagon is a customer favourite, accounting for 67.1% of total sales from 2020, with Magic Black, Brilliant Silver and Graphite Gray being the most popular colours. In Ukraine, Octavia has been the undisputed leader in its class for the past 10 years. Last year, the market share was 46.9%, and in the first three months of 2024 – 63.5%.
