Sony has released several new products in recent weeks. Yesterday, they also introduced the new LinkBuds S headphones. These are TWS headphones priced at around $ 200, which come with ANC and a number of interesting features.
Thanks to the new lighter and more comfortable design, LinkBuds S can be worn for a long time without feeling uncomfortable. According to the manufacturer, LinkBuds S is “the world’s smallest and lightest real noise-canceling wireless headphones.” In addition, they have an IPX4 rating, which means that you can wear them even during sports.
The headphones are equipped with 5-millimeter drivers that can play “powerful bass and clear vocals” and its own Sony V1 processor. So they can provide very good sound quality, minimize distortion and improve noise reduction.
The main difference from the first LinkBuds (except for the more traditional design) is the addition of ANC to the new model. Apart from this, Sony has added its own adaptive sound control. You can adjust the settings according to your activity or location. In addition, the headphones support Speak-to-Chat. The latter can automatically detect your voice and pause the sound when you start speaking.
At the presentation, Sony paid attention to the Auto Play function. With this feature, the headphones automatically play or stop the sound when you wear them. For example, if you create a specific playlist for walking, and LinkBuds S identifies your activity like walking, playback of that particular playlist will begin. So far, this feature is available in the Sony Headphones Connect app on Android. According to the company, it will also be available to iOS users in early June. And this feature is only compatible with Spotify and Soundscape Endel.
In addition to listening to music, headphones can also be used for phone calls. To do this, the company uses its Precise Voice Pickup technology, which “optimally controls the microphones on both headphones.” Another feature is the compatibility with voice assistants. You can also control the headphones with customizable touch controls. Of course, they support both Google Fast Pair and Windows Swift Pair.
Battery capacity has not been reported, but Sony says it will provide up to six hours of use with ANC activated. Plus you get an extra 14 hours from the case. Unfortunately, there is no support for wireless charging. Instead, the Sony LinkBuds S support wired fast charging – for example, a five-minute charge will bring you an extra hour of music.
