At CES 2024, Google announced some new Android Auto features that’ll be coming to users soon. These new features aim to improve the overall user experience of those making use of this smart platform in their vehicles. Over the past few years, this smart system for vehicles has been getting better and improving its functionality, and CES 2024 brings more advancements.
Google is now planning to add the battery percentage of EVs to their infotainment screen when connected to Android Auto. This will help drivers stay up-to-date on how much battery they have, to know if they need to charge up, or if they can continue their trip. The first vehicles to get this smart ability were the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning.
Users will also be getting more apps on their infotainment screens to keep them informed or entertained. Apps like Google Chrome and the Weather Channel will become available to cars that have Google built-in. Cars from brands like Polestar and Volvo will be among the first to get these new apps since they come with Google built-in and don’t require a user’s device to access Android Auto.
The last feature that is coming to vehicles is the ability to use your smartphone as a key. Well, some might argue that they can already do that on their cars, while that is true, Google is working with more brands to bring this feature to more users. Owners of these cars won’t need a separate app to hold their digital key, as it might come in a core Google app for some users.
For you to be able to unlock and start your car with your Android smartphone, your car will need to have Google built-in. The list of cars that have Google built-in is growing and even if your car isn’t on the list now, it can be added in the coming months. These new features coming to Android Auto will all become available to users soon.
