The Ukrainian team Sandman Team, in collaboration with Pingle Studio, has announced that the hardcore platformer Through the Nightmares — a journey through dreams — will be released on Steam in June this year. The game will also be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
To mark the announcement, the developers have released a new trailer showcasing the key mechanics of the game — the Sandman’s ability to change size. The video also offers a glimpse into the distorted world of nightmares, revealing some of the most striking scenes players will encounter. The development team, consisting of three developers, spent over nine years bringing their vision to life and ensuring the project was realized to the highest standards.

The game will be published on consoles by the Ukrainian company Pingle Studio, which is an outsourcing partner for many international studios. An updated demo of Through the Nightmares is already available for download on Steam, and soon a demo version will be released for consoles as well.
In the game, players take on the role of the Sandman, a spirit who brings good dreams to people. He must rescue children kidnapped by Morpheus, and to do so, he must venture into his domain where the deepest fears come to life. The game features 45 meticulously crafted levels, divided into three chapters and six eerie locations, inspired by Scandinavian legends, American suburbs, and medieval ruins. Each of these areas represents the fears and painful memories of the imprisoned children.
Through the Nightmares has already earned a reputation as a challenging platformer that requires maximum concentration. The game will also introduce several unique mechanics, including the protagonist’s ability to change size. This impacts the game’s physics—altering the trajectory of jumps, inertia, interaction with traps, and even allowing players to find hidden paths and secrets.
The gameplay also features instant respawns and a unique checkpoint creation system. During the game, players must collect the lost belongings of the kidnapped children, learn about their past, and piece together the truth about Morpheus. Of course, the story is enhanced by an original soundtrack that brings the nightmare world to life.
