According to the military, this day has been highly successful in terms of strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile systems. Drone operators managed to hit two enemy “Pantsir” systems.
Units of the Ukrainian Navy destroyed two Russian self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun systems, “Pantsir,” in the Kherson region. According to a post on Facebook by Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Petro Shuklinov, the “Pantsirs” were destroyed by drones launched from unmanned naval boats. This adds a new model to the capabilities of these boats, transforming them into a type of “aircraft carrier” in addition to their kamikaze and anti-aircraft roles.
“This significantly changes the prospects of using drones against the Russians in the occupied territories and, in general, the logic of conducting warfare at sea and on land,” he added.
According to Ukrainian Navy Commander Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, “Minus two ‘Pantsirs’ in the Kherson region! Our soldiers continue to turn Russian equipment into scrap metal.” He also shared a video of the destruction of the enemy equipment on his Facebook page.
Additionally, as reported in the Ukrainian Naval Forces’ Telegram channel, not only were the “Pantsirs” destroyed, but also one of the “Osa” surface-to-air missile systems. “The Ukrainian Navy, together with units from other branches of the Defense Forces, continues to destroy the enemy on land, at sea, and in the air!” the message states.
The “Pantsir-S1” is a Russian self-propelled surface-to-air missile and gun system designed for close protection of civilian and military sites (including long-range air defense systems) from all modern and future aerial threats. It can also provide protection against ground and surface threats. On the other hand, the “Osa” is a surface-to-air missile system that is intended to ensure air defense at the divisional level.
