A new privacy tool, The WhatsApp Avatar sticker feature, is currently in beta testing and will soon become available for users. The folks at WABetaInfo have already spotted this feature in beta testing and have a few things to share about its usage. In this article, we’ll have a close look at this feature that we expect to make it to stable usage in the coming months.
Sometime last year, WhatsApp rolled out the use of avatars to their users on both Android, iOS, and Web platforms. These avatars can be used as profile pictures, stickers, and so on within the WhatsApp platform. However, at this point, anyone can save and use your Avatar stickers in chats with you or any other contact they have on the platform.
The coming WhatsApp Avatar sticker feature will give users a measure of control over who gets to use their stickers. An entire settings page for this purpose is already accessible to beta testers of the platform. For this settings page, users will be able to select the set of people who can save and use their avatar stickers within chats on the platform.
This setting page will be under the privacy section of WhatsApp settings. It’ll be similar to the Last Seen, Profile Photo, About, and Status privacy settings. Users will be able to pick between either, their contacts, or selected contacts, and not give anyone access to save and use their avatar stickers.
By selecting nobody on the option menu, WhatsApp will not let anyone save the user’s avatar sticker for usage. This is an impressive privacy feature that a ton of WhatsApp users in various regions will find very helpful. Users will be able to get this WhatsApp Avatar sticker feature via an OTA upgrade once it passes its beta testing.
