Android users are preparing to get this WhatsApp QR code feature that is currently in beta testing. The folks at WABetaInfo have spotted this feature, and it is a very impressive addition to the beta version of WhatsApp that is currently undergoing testing. With this QR code feature, users can easily connect with others on the social media application without having to take their phone numbers.
Currently, connecting with others on WhatsApp requires you to have their phone number on your contact list. WhatsApp constantly syncs with your contact list to bring in new additions to your contact list that use the social media platform. You can then find these new additions via the ‘select contact’ button on the bottom right-hand part of the screen.
With this new WhatsApp QR code feature, adding a contact to your chats will be much easier. The feature will let users scan a personalized QR code to add others to their chat page. This will be similar to syncing your chats to the WhatsApp Web platform on your monitor or laptop.
From the screenshot that WABetaInfo provided, we can see the QR icon on the taskbar. It sits next to the camera, search, and more icons, making them accessible to users. Tapping on this icon will generate a personalized QR code that users can give to others to scan and chat with them. The icon might also pull up a scan option for the user planning to scan another user’s QR code.
For now, the usage of this feature is not yet crystal clear, but we have a good idea of its function. In the coming weeks, beta testers on WhatsApp for Android will get to play around with this feature and get a clearer idea of its usage. This feature will be a great shortcut tool once it becomes available for usage by the public.
