WABetaInfo has now spotted the WhatsApp Web client chat lock feature that is currently under development. This feature will give users the ability to lock certain chats, limiting access to these chats to only those who have the access code. With this feature, users will be able to ensure their privacy while they engage in chats that they don’t wish to give others access to.
Already, the mobile version of WhatsApp for the mobile platform has access to this chat lock feature. A few months ago, this feature was rolled out to users on both Android and iOS platforms who got access to this feature after an app update. This feature permitted users to add some chats to a designated lock folder, limiting access to only themselves and blocking off prying eyes.
Despite making its way to the mobile app, this feature has been missing on the WhatsApp Web client. Well, this won’t be for long, as WhatsApp is already working to bring this feature to users of the web client soon. Beta testers on the platform are already noticing a new lock folder on the side control panel, just like is accessible on the WhatsApp mobile platform.
From the screenshot the folks at WABetaInfo made available it’s clear where this feature will be found. At this moment, access to this chat lock feature on the web client is still under development and only some beta testers can try it out. Once available for usage, WhatsApp will update the web client to give users access to this feature for their chats.
