GSC Game World recently released a 30-minute video dedicated to *S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl*, showcasing a segment of the game’s setting with a floating tram set against the tranquil sounds of nature. At the same time, players discovered that a real-life prototype of this unique transport actually exists.
This was reported by a follower of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. UA Telegram channel named Demyan. He noted that a similar “floating tram” can be found near the village of Rozhny in the Kyiv region. One of the locals repurposed it into a floating cabin on the Desna River.
Back in 2017, news outlets covered this story, revealing that the tram’s owner, Viktor Petrovych, a former waterway manager, bought pontoons and a tram car from a depot at scrap metal prices. Inside, he set up several cabins, and to move along the river, he used a tugboat.
“In those days, this area was part of the legendary Artifact Klondike… When everyone dreamed of just a glimpse of the treasures hidden there from the greedy eyes of stalkers. Then they turned off the Brain Scorcher, and waves of fortune-seekers flooded in to see what lay hidden. I miss those days—the comrades, the bar counter, a mug of Beard’s brew at Skadovsk… Right, the Swamps are that way, but don’t you dare go there. It’s abandoned, and no one returns alive. At least, not with their sanity intact,” reads the description under GSC’s video.
As of 2017, the “floating tram” had already been abandoned. Now, it has made its way into S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
