Xiaomi has announced a new Book S 12.4 tablet with Windows 11 for European markets. Xiaomi Book S 12.4 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor which is still considered a high-end option, if you want a Windows 11 device on ARM SoC (until Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 devices will hit the market).
In addition to the SoC, which includes eight Kryo 495 cores clocked at up to 2.84 GHz and Qualcomm Adreno 680 graphics processor, the tablet is also equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which is probably the only configuration available. This is not the best configuration, but it is definitely suitable for a large number of users. The device also comes with a modest 38 Wh battery, but given the ARM processor it should give the tablet up to 13 hours of working time on a single charge, according to Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Book S 12.4 is equipped with a 12.35-inch display with 16:10 aspect ratio, giving users extra 160 pixels of vertical space, compared to a standard 16:9 panel. The resolution is 2560×1600, the brightness is up to 500 nits. Display also has a wide color gamut of 100% of DCI-P3. The screen supports touch input and Xiaomi Smart Pen (sold separately), which has 4096 pressure levels for more natural drawing and writing. The pen connects via Bluetooth and has two buttons for quick action. And looks like it’s the same pen used on Xiaomi’s Pad 5 Android tablet.
There’s also an optional keyboard with a built-in stand that turns Xiaomi Book S 12.4 into a full-fledged laptop. The keyboard is sold separately for about €150 euros, although first buyers in Germany can get it for free with the tablet.
In addition, the tablet has a 5-megapixel front-facing webcam (1080p video) and a 13-megapixel rear camera, as well as noise-canceling microphones compatible with Qualcomm Aqstic technology. Two stereo speakers are responsible for sound, but if you want to connect it to a better speakers – you can do it with the help of 3.5 mm mini-jack. Other ports include a single USB Type-C (with support of 65W charging and a 4K display output) and a microSD card reader.
Xiaomi Book S 12.4 can already be purchased in Germany for €699. And along with a keyboard (for first buyers only) you’ll also receive a fast charger (depending on the market). When it will be released in other markets and at what price – remains a mystery.
